Outreach Activities
WCHC’s outreach efforts reflect our mission to bring people and organizations together to address community health challenges. Through education, collaboration, and local engagement, we work to connect residents with the resources, support, and knowledge they need to live healthier lives.

Mindful Miles
The Wyoming County Healthcare Center is excited to announce a community outreach program, Mindful Miles, set to take place in June at the scenic Vosburg Neck State Park. This initiative, made possible through a generous grant awarded by the Wyoming County Community Health Foundation, combines physical activity and mental wellness to promote holistic health within the community.
Mindful Miles is designed to encourage participants ages 8-10 to engage in mindful walking and outdoor exploration while learning techniques to manage stress, improve focus, and foster emotional resilience. The beautiful trails of Vosburg Neck State Park will serve as the perfect backdrop for this enriching experience.
WCHC is proud to collaborate with Vosburg Neck State Park for this program and grateful for the Wyoming County Community Health Foundation’s support. This partnership exemplifies the shared mission of fostering wellness and building connections within our community.
Stay tuned for more details about Mindful Miles, including registration information and event schedules. We look forward to seeing you in June for this exciting opportunity to embrace health, mindfulness, and the great outdoors!

Computer Center
Thanks to Educational Improvement Tax Credit (EITC) funds, Wyoming County Healthcare Center (WCHC) is partnering with Tunkhannock Area School District’s co-op program to provide high school students with real-world experience while supporting community access to technology.
Students in the co-op program will supervise the newly renovated computer center, located on the lower level of WCHC. This space features nine computer stations, free broadband access, and a dedicated telehealth room, providing residents with essential resources for healthcare, education, and workforce development. In addition to overseeing the facility, students will assist users with computer navigation, create tutorials, and support digital literacy efforts.
This initiative not only gives students valuable workforce skills but also strengthens community access to technology. Whether residents need help applying for jobs, accessing telehealth services, or learning basic computer skills, this center will provide a welcoming and supportive environment.
Additionally, CHOP (Community Hunger Outreach Warehouse) will establish a food pantry within the center to assist residents facing food insecurity. This effort ensures that visitors not only gain access to digital resources but also receive essential support for their well-being.
By investing in education, workforce training, and community wellness, this program reflects WCHC’s ongoing commitment to strengthening opportunities and resources for Wyoming County residents.

Ag Lessons
In partnership with Wyoming County Healthcare Center, a new agriculture-based education initiative at the Tunkhannock Area Primary Center will introduce students to the science of gardening, plant biology, and wellness through hands-on learning. Funded by an Educational Improvement Tax Credit (EITC) grant, this two-year program will engage 400 to 450 kindergarten through second-grade students in a curriculum that blends STEM, environmental education, and real-world agricultural experiences.
The first year focuses on plant biology and environmental science, with students learning about parts of plants, pollination, seed dispersion, and the plant life cycle. Classroom activities will include window gardens, pollination gardens, and flower pressing, helping students make direct observations about how plants grow and thrive. Technology will play a role in the lessons, with students using STEM-focused robots and digital storytelling apps to document their discoveries.
In April, students will present their projects at a school-wide STEM Night, where families and community members can explore their work. The program will conclude with a field trip to a local farm, providing firsthand exposure to farming and pollination.
In the second year, students will explore the connection between agriculture and personal wellness, comparing the needs of plants—sunlight, water, and soil—to human health. As part of the program, students will help establish a school community farm, working together to grow and harvest vegetables. The initiative will culminate in Salsa Day, where students will prepare salsa using their own produce while learning about healthy eating and sustainable food systems.
By integrating gardening, STEM, and wellness education, this initiative encourages scientific curiosity, environmental responsibility, and a deeper connection to food and health. Wyoming County Healthcare Center is committed to supporting educational opportunities that inspire the next generation and strengthen community ties.

Community Closet
The Wright Center for Community Health recently hosted a Community Closet event at the Wyoming County Healthcare Center in Tunkhannock on February 7. The initiative provided local residents with free access to clothing and essential items, ensuring that individuals and families had the resources they needed to stay warm and comfortable during the winter months.
The Community Closet was stocked with new and gently used coats, gloves, hats, and socks for infants, children, and adults, along with a selection of household essentials. Open to all, the event welcomed individuals facing financial hardship, families in transition, and anyone in need of extra support. The Community Closet is part of The Wright Center’s broader mission to address social determinants of health by removing barriers to essential needs. Recognizing that financial struggles can extend beyond medical expenses, the initiative aims to support community members by providing practical resources that contribute to overall well-being.
By hosting events like this, WCHC continues to connect residents with services and organizations dedicated to improving their quality of life.

Trehab Mobile Services
January 16, 2025 from 3:00 to 4:30 PM, Trehab will be offering their mobile services for workforce development. A table will be set up in the former gift shop area in the front lobby of our facility. Representatives will be available to answer any questions the community has about PA CareerLink and Trehab.
Trehab operates Adult, Youth (Launch), and Dislocated Worker programs, funded through Department of Labor Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) funds. These programs make available to eligible job seekers a variety of supportive assistance, including career counseling, pre-vocational preparation, basic skills improvement, on-the-job training, occupational skills training, and job search assistance. The goal is to assist them in obtaining gainful employment. Trehab has workforce development offices in Sullivan, Susquehanna, Tioga, and Wyoming Counties.

A Community That Cares, Every Day of the Year
This holiday season, the employees of Wyoming County Healthcare Center, Pathway to Peace & Wellness, Work Well Occupational Services, Martin Medicare Solutions, Greenley’s BBQ, Wyoming County Community Health Foundation, The Guthrie Clinic, Davita Dialysis, and The Wright Center came together to bring joy and hope to 65 children in Wyoming County through the Giving Tree Program of the Children's Service Center and Interfaith.
Each gift chosen was more than a toy or package—it was a message of love and care to brighten a child’s holiday. Imagine the smiles, the excitement, and the feeling of knowing that their community sees them, values them, and holds them close.
But this generosity doesn’t stop at the holidays. These organizations and their employees carry this same compassion into their daily work. Whether it’s providing healthcare, wellness programs, support services, or even a warm meal, they show up for our neighbors in meaningful ways every single day. Their actions embody our shared mission: to care for and uplift the people of Wyoming County.
We are deeply grateful to our partners for their generosity, not only during this special season but throughout the year. It’s through moments like this that we see what a strong, caring community can accomplish together.
Because when we come together, we make Wyoming County stronger, healthier, and filled with hope.
Thank you for making a difference for 65 children and for all you do every day!
