At Wyoming County Healthcare Center, Inc., we believe that a healthy community is a thriving community. Our mission is to promote wellness, provide education, job training, and support the well-being of our residents. We are excited to introduce our Outreach Programs, a series of initiatives designed to foster a holistic approach to health and wellness.

Our Programs
Our Outreach Programs cover a wide range of health and wellness topics. Examples include, but are not limited to:

Healthy Lifestyle and Wellness Workshops: From nutrition and cooking classes to guided fitness activities and stress management sessions, our workshops aim to educate and inspire healthy living.
Family Health and Wellness Days: Fun, family-oriented events featuring fitness challenges, health screenings, and educational booths that promote healthy habits for all ages.
Drug Use Prevention Workshops: Educating children and adolescents on the dangers of drug use, empowering them to make healthy choices and resist peer pressure.
Mental Health Awareness Seminars: Collaborating with mental health professionals to reduce stigma and provide valuable resources for mental health support.

Community Events and Outreach
In addition to our regular programming, we actively participate in local events to engage with the community and promote health and wellness. Some examples of the events where you can join us include:

Miller Mountain Trail Challenge: Help us set up health and wellness booths, provide water stations, and offer encouragement to participants.
River Days: Join our team in organizing fun and educational activities that promote water safety, environmental health, and physical fitness.
Wyoming County Fair: Assist with our health screenings, educational demonstrations, and interactive wellness activities at our booth.
Founders Day: Participate in our historical health walk, offering insights into the health practices of our founders and modern-day wellness tips.
Nutrition and Wellness: Support our nutrition education initiatives by demonstrating healthy recipes using fresh, local produce.
Festival of Lights: Join us at the Festival of Lights for a heartwarming and health-focused celebration designed to support our community's well-being during the holiday season.

How You Can Help
We are looking for dedicated volunteers who are eager to share their skills and knowledge. Whether you’re a health professional, educator, fitness instructor, or simply someone with a heart for service, there are many ways you can contribute:

Lead a Workshop: Share your expertise by conducting classes or sessions on nutrition, fitness, mental health, or drug prevention.
Event Support: Help organize and run our Family Health and Wellness Days, ensuring they are fun and informative for all participants.
Outreach and Promotion: Use your skills in marketing, social media, or community engagement to spread the word about our programs and attract more participants.
Administrative Assistance: Support our team with essential behind-the-scenes tasks to keep our programs running smoothly.

Ready to get started? Applicant must complete the Volunteer Application and consent to a background check by submitting the following clearances:

1. PA State Police Criminal Background Check
Make sure to begin by clicking the VOLUNTEERS ONLY Record Check box so you do not have to pay.  The certificate needs to include ALL pages of the report and show your name and result as well as any information on convictions provided.

2. PA Child Welfare Portal Child Abuse Check
Begin by creating an Individual Login if you do not already have one. Be sure to write down your username and password as you will need to log back in to retrieve your clearance report once it is completed (much quicker than waiting for a hard copy to be mailed). When you request a clearance, be sure to indicate it is for volunteer purposes so there is no charge.

3, Federal Background Check via Fingerprint Submission   OR   Signed Affadavit that you are Exempt from that Check

To request exemption from the fingerprinting requirement, you must sign the affidavit to confirm that you have been a Pennsylvania resident for all of the past 10 years and have not been convicted of any of the offenses noted on the list. Please note all the other volunteer requirements (Little League Application and PA Clearances) must still be completed.

If you cannot claim exemption and you need to go through the federal check, then you will need to schedule an appointment at an IdentoGO location. Begin at this link and use  Service Code 1KG6ZJ where requested. Then you will need to schedule an appointment to provide fingerprints. The registration process will allow you to select a location -- the closest current IdentoGO locations are Clarks Summit, Kingston, and Montrose. There is a fee charged by IdentoGO. You will receive notice of your result in email - please print it out and provide it with your other clearances.

What Happens After My Clearances are Turned In?

Each of these requirements must be met in full, processed, and results reviewed and approved by the security committee before you take any of the roles indicated above. Please allow 10 days for processing.

Merely submitting application does not mean you can immediately assume a role - your application and clearance letters must be entered, processed, reviewed, and approved by the Board of Directors before you can take any of those roles listed. Once you have been approved, the Outreach Coordinator will contact you when opportunities to volunteer in a program arises.
