Cancer and Healing

Meets the 2nd Wednesday of each month

On June 7, 2025, WCHC proudly participated in the 12th Annual Crush Cancer Color 5K Run/Walk at the Wyoming County Fairgrounds. This high-energy event brought together families, friends, and survivors to raise funds for cancer-related causes, honor loved ones, and support those currently battling the disease.

But for us at the Wyoming County Healthcare Center, the event was about more than just color and movement—it was about connection, compassion, and continued care.

Healing Beyond the Finish Line

While the 5K celebrates strength in motion, healing often begins in quieter, more reflective spaces—and that’s exactly what our Cancer & Healing support group offers.

Held on the second Wednesday of each month at 5 PM, this group is open to anyone impacted by cancer, including patients, survivors, caregivers, and loved ones. Guided by the belief that healing is multidimensional, we explore a variety of complementary and holistic therapies to support physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being.

Topics explored include:

  • Sound therapy to reduce stress and anxiety

  • Art expression as a tool for emotional release

  • Mindfulness and meditation for clarity and peace

  • Nutritional and herbal guidance to support the body during and after treatment

💬 “Crush Cancer 5K gives people an outlet to show their strength—but when the crowds go home, healing continues. That’s why our group exists: to provide a safe space to process, reflect, and rebuild,” said Nicki Morgan, WCHC Community Engagement Coordinator.

Strength in Partnership

The Crush Cancer Color 5K supports numerous meaningful causes including the American Cancer Society, Ronald McDonald House Charities, and the Jill Hoffman Memorial Scholarship, which honors a beloved educator and advocate for student success. WCHC was honored to support this year’s event and connect participants to longer-term resources.

Healing doesn’t stop when the race ends—and at WCHC, we’re here for every step of the journey.
